A Special Place in Hell

“There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.”

I had the pleasure of hearing Madeleine Albright speak years ago at a CREW Network Conference. Surrounded by so many professional women in the CRE industry and listening to the eloquent yet personable Albright was a moment I will never forget.

This month, I see many positive examples of women lifting each other—mentoring, collaborating, and celebrating one another’s successes. It reminds me of the power of community and how much further we go when we support each other.

CRE has traditionally been male-dominated, and we are actively seeking ways to ensure female representation where every step forward is in the same direction. Albright’s words weren’t just a call to action; they were a challenge to show up for one another to advocate for others. One example of this level of advocacy is the launch of Women Speak CRE, led by Allison S. Weiss, who has made it her mission to move the needle in our direction.

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, I want to acknowledge the women who have extended a hand to me and those I strive to uplift in return.

🚪Let’s continue to make space, open doors, and champion each other.
