Retail and Dining Therapy at SFO
San Francisco International Airport isn’t the first place that comes to mind for shopping or dining, yet I felt the pull of retail therapy while passing through Terminal 1 last week.
I stopped by Green Apple Books, a San Francisco favorite with an incredible selection and spot-on staff recommendations, plus a wall of SF-made gear. My mouth watered over the food options—Banh Mi and one of my go-tos, The Little Chihuahua. The art on the t-shirt offerings at SanFranPsycho caught my eye, and quite honestly, if it hadn’t been a morning flight, I might have stopped into Perry’s for a vodka soda.
Creating a true sense of place in an airport is no easy feat, but Terminal 1 does it well. In fact, they have such a great selection of food that SFO was named one of the top 10 airports in the world for food and drink by Food and Wine Magazine in their 2024 Global Tastemaker panel.
What’s the best airport shopping or dining experience you’ve had? Do you have a go-to airport spot you always visit?
